"This is by far the best organized and professionally done workshop I've taken. Lots of great, relevant information presented clearly by very competent instructors."
massage therapist, Bellevue, WA

"You are truly an amazing teacher and human being. One week later and my massage practice has already been changed significantly because of your generous sharing of knowledge, skills, vision and values."
Registered nurse and Massage Therapist, Sacramento, CA

"I maintain that massage masters such as Linda Tellington Jones, Leon Chaitow, Michael Shea, and Carole Osborne have the ability to blend vast clinical experience and exposure to different points of view and different techniques according to the needs of the person on the table, and with a respectful sense of boundaries."
Robert King, Past President, AMTA

Educational Philosophy

Instruction will engage your auditory, visual, and kinesthetic learning strengths. In this learner friendly, accessible format, you will benefit from detailed demonstrations, individualized tableside assistance, and excellent teacher/student ratios. Well-paced practice segments, a practicum with pregnant women, and a graphically-rich, extensive student handbook guarantee your assimilation of techniques. Engaging discussions and lectures reinforce the theoretical foundations elaborated in the textbook.

Qualified Students

This certification workshop is designed for experienced graduates of 500 hours diversified somatic programs. Other perinatal professionals are admitted with instructor approval. Please contact us for approval or for any questions.

When my employer suggested that I take this course from Body Therapy Associates, even though I had taken it 7 years earlier, I was concerned that I'd be bored. Boy, was I wrong! It is was updated to reflect new research and techniques that I find myself using daily. Thank you, Carole!

PLEASE CALL or e-mail us if there are any questions or concerns. Tuition ranges from $575 - $625 dependent on enrollment date.

Prerequisite preparations

I understand that I am required to complete the following preparations to improve my participation in the course: 1. Reading and studying of Pre-and Perinatal Massage Therapy and at least one other book about pregnancy and birth (recommended: Pregnancy, Childbirth and the Newborn or Essential Exercises for the Childbearing Year). 2. Anatomical study.

Practicum

I understand that if I live within one hour of the course location that I am responsible for locating and scheduling a pregnant woman to receive a massage on the third afternoon of the course. If this is impossible, I will contact the sponsoring organization directly within two weeks of the course beginning to make alternative arrangements.

Certification Requirements

I understand that I will receive certification and continuing education credits for this course ONLY if I have satisfactorily performed on both the theoretical test (minimum 80% score) and the hands-on evaluations (satisfactory in accuracy, pressure, sensitivity, speed, rhythm, positioning, draping, client interaction, and body mechanics). Although most students complete the program within the four workshop days, I understand that if my in-class test and evaluation are not both satisfactory, I will be required to do further study, practice, and evaluation in order to be certified and get CEU documentation.

Special Note to Course Repeaters

Many successful, certified graduates retake the Pre and Perinatal Massage Therapy certification workshop. NCBTMB allows one repetition of a course. In order to receive CEU credits you must attend the entire workshop and participate in all portions, including hands-on practicum and taking the written exam. BTA offers graduates a 25% tuition discount. Most schools that sponsor our workshop will allow the same discount, but please contact us first so we can check with the sponsoring school to see if this is permissible.
