Safety Essentials Home Study Course
Curriculum, Materials & Requirements
You want to enhance women’s maternity experience. You recognize that the intricacies of prenatal adaptations demand massage therapy modifications, but what changes are necessary? This home study is designed for bodywork students and practitioners seeking the essential knowledge to safeguard client health while performing prenatal massage therapy.
Curriculum
- Typical maternal concerns and pregnancy’s normal anatomical, physiological, and emotional progression
- Necessary safety precautions for utilizing most Western and some Eastern somatic methods
- Relevant research data supporting the practice of prenatal massage therapy
- Rationale behind positioning and technique recommendations
- Warning signs and symptoms of prenatal complications and high risk factors
- Distinctions between safe and risky techniques for pregnant clients
- Appropriate somatic practices and modifications for each trimester of pregnancy
* Because hands-on instruction and evaluation is not practical in this home study, completion does NOT confer or imply certification as a maternity specialist. Practitioners seeking hands-on instruction and specialization certification in maternity massage therapy should enroll in the comprehensive certification workshop where you will practice and receive personalized feedback in over 80 advanced techniques specifically adapted to meet the challenges of pregnancy, labor, and the postpartum period. Please request a schedule.
